Community Guidelines

Our Mission
ReligionCompare exists to provide factual, neutral, citation-backed information about world religions. Our community forums are a space for respectful learning and discussion — not debate, conversion, or conflict.
1. Be Respectful
Treat all religions, their adherents, and fellow community members with respect. Disagreement is welcome; disrespect is not. Personal attacks, insults, and derogatory language will result in moderation action.
2. Stay Factual
When making claims about a religion, cite your sources. Anecdotal experience is valid for personal sharing but should not be presented as representative of an entire tradition. Distinguish between widely held beliefs and minority interpretations.
3. No Proselytizing
Do not use the community to recruit, convert, or promote one religion over another. Sharing your personal beliefs is fine in context; actively trying to convince others to adopt your beliefs is not.
4. No Hate Speech
Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination against any religious group, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension.
5. Stay On Topic
Post in the appropriate forum board. Off-topic posts may be moved or removed. Political discussions are only permitted when directly relevant to religious policy or history.
6. No Spam or Self-Promotion
Do not post advertisements, affiliate links, or repetitive content. Sharing relevant academic resources or books is welcome; commercial promotion is not.
7. Report, Don't Retaliate
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the report button. Do not engage in arguments or retaliate. Our moderation team reviews all reports promptly.
Enforcement
Violations are handled progressively: first offense receives a warning, second offense results in a temporary suspension, and repeated violations lead to permanent account termination. Severe violations (hate speech, threats) may result in immediate permanent bans.
Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting moderation@religioncompare.com with your username and a description of the situation.
